Click hereIf we were just particles
That swam in the air
That danced in the sunbeams
Like we didn’t have a care
If we were just laughing
And hanging around
And dreaming through sunsets
And teasing the ground
If we were just floating
Like a huge plume of dust
I know we’d be joking
While we wait for a gust
And with one breath of air
We’d scatter and tatter away
But I’m sure we’d be laughing
I’m sure we would say…
We are just particles
At the end of the day
It could be tempting to dismiss this poem as light reading, but as is the way with many Maggoty things, it isn't. Except, it is. The soul of brevity delivers again, with dancing particles and stanzas that do more heavy lifting than you might expect. Deft indeed, sir.
I love this line, "And dreaming through sunsets." Lovely, M., lovely.
