Little pockets of puff pastry,
filled with slices of her essence
sometimes an offering comes unbidden,
sometimes subterfuge is extended over all
Could the new palettes of colour,
make any difference?
those stinging retorts,
that paucity of feeling,
that conglomeration of fears
who stands beneath thy window and
trills like a night bird
Flecks and flights
resonate through time
Take the proffered chance and turn it over
Dolphins are guardians, they say
But none know for what
Is it Persephone waiting for the dragon
Maybe those eviscerations will show
what He ate
limbs certainly, flesh and bones
hearts and guts
Yet even a dragon cannot eat a soul
Inviolate, Immutable, steadfast as the
banyan tree
roots hanging from the branches
down to the ground
Such sturdy bindings even
steel link doesn't compare
and He harvested those roots
Laid in a stock and waited
for her
