Is it weakness or strength we daily explore
Or is it simply ourselves that we adore
The whims and actions of this lust
That makes us react our minds don’t trust

To lead the other in unquestioned power
The journey taking days or hours
From Richmond to Wyndmoor to Drexel Hill
We test our brazen luck, our will

We have united in myriads of places
People have watched with unbelieving faces
For you see, we have no shame
One place then another it’s never the same

Today is your turn to choose
We may even make the evening news
It’s no question when we sin
This game will ultimately will do us in

Glowering eyes watch us pass
Dropping to tarry on your sweet ass
No chance have they doomed, unsaved
To earn the prize they so desperately crave

You pass them by, no sidelong glance
Leaving their crude minds alone to dance
I fool myself, that I have your back
But we are ne’re safe from their attack

The cobblestones click under tough black heels
A steel door opens its stairs revealed
To the very top we hasten to climb
A drizzle of rain keeps steady time

The rooftop is our journey’s end
The balance of the day there we will spend
Its thick tar roof is sticky and wet
Like the magical day that we first met

You turn to me and undo my zipper
Then stoop to please like a Vegas stripper
This is the reason it’s for this I go
Your mouth stokes hot my fire down below

Rain pours down it wets your hair
Burning black tire stench fills the air
Its acrid scent is big city hellish
Exactly the pungent smells you relish

Rational thoughts we don’t possess
I don’t pause as I lift your dress
This is the place you chose for our “date”
The scene for us to couple and mate

Minutes grow to hours, clocks unseen keep time
For us this tryst is divinely sublime
With a groan you arch back to explode
Allowing release of my heavy load

Is it time to stop this madness?
Can’t we be normal, not gamblers with sadness?
We should live and love and date
In an actual bed we can try to mate

It’s in our power, the time is now
We must change the question is how
But the flesh is weak, the spirit unwilling
Our fate cast and it is chilling

We know all this, we can’t pretend
That we know not how this dance will end
Yet, tomorrow is another day
Already I yearn to lead the way
