He Who Wakes When Others Sleep

In the quiet gloom of ceaseless night
You toil firm in your imagination
That which believes in repudiation
Of what would fear your holy light
I stand in darkness, allied with power
Truth more profound than man can guess
You tremble not, I fear much less
Tis you that spends his final hour
In this land of death and dust
Do what you can, I what I must

The long night that will not end.
And why should it? Surely it is better than the blaze of day
All things revealed, how foolish to think that you have naught to hide.
Cold and desolate, the typical thoughts of a typical mind, why is it wrong?
That time and place reflect internal temperament, aren’t you alone?
Oh I forgot, as you sit beside the roaring, searing flames
That you would prefer the blaze of day, all things revealed, as if in judgement.
I walk in silence, fine, I share with none save the humors of the time
That in my endless night, redemption is revealed, a possibility
You yourself reject. To hell with you. I pray for this,
The long night that will not end.

La Lune

It calls me when I cannot sleep
It hearkens back to things remembered
The thoughts in vain I have dismembered
To set them anew in proper keep
Reflections cast from somewhere other
Looking inward, yes its true
La lune reflects what I yet rue
The false light that shines from a false lover
Ignore la lune, sleep well instead!
The past is best left for the dead

Welcome back from your long hiatus with this rather dark look at a poet's creative side.
