Your soul or idea is put on the paper there
You have ideas and you need to share
them ALL, like ceramic tiles of Cincinnati.
So write many poems because its important for
Everyone to see and enjoy what you have to say
From your heart, right.
Always write about important things like marriage
And noses, and if you talk to them about sexy women
And penises than it is an erotic poem.
Meter, rhyme, rhythm, beat, meaning, form, economy,
Synecdoche, allusion, metaphor, structure, enjambment, grammar, layers, cadence, don’t
Matter as long as you have an idea
-- And your heart is your idea again.
So you see
Poetry is good all the time, folks
And don’t forget that a song is
A poem to, and we all feel music can be
Inside us. So not writing
Poetry is a silly thing to do.
And there you have it
Poetry doesn’t suck.

KOLKOREover 16 years agoIt felt awkward and fun and silly all at the same time. Some of what was splashed into the poem actually made sense but I am not sure if in this poem it was even important (making too much sense that is). So you demonstrated in the poem about writing poems the kind of poems which were to most likely come out of this semi nonsense prescription for poems writing!
Angelineover 16 years agoand I loved the surreal images and wordplay, especially that list of poetry terms. That worked really well, I thought. The prose and "telling" really dragged the poem down though. The basic idea is so good though if you were to edit it, maybe even number the "facts," and stick to those strange images and fun wordplay, you'd have a really spectacular poem imho.
