Somewhere between the left of wrong
And the not quite center of right
Was a truth that couldn’t be acknowledged
To consider that it might exist
That it even had the right to exist
Would be an admittance of weakness
Weakness of body
Of soul
Of morality

It was better to pretend ignorance

So as the days passed
Softly fluttering on the wings of yesterday
Every new sunrise
Bringing the promise of a new opportunity
Every new sunset
Leaving the promise again unfulfilled
The truth waited

It was better to pretend ignorance

The truth waited
Waited to be acknowledged
To be seen
To be known
To go beyond ‘just’ and ‘only’
To see what could be
Always to remain
Unseen, unknown, unanswered
The mystery shrouded
‘What might have been’

It was better to pretend ignorance

And the day
Passed into night
And tomorrow
Never knew
That somewhere between the left of wrong
And the not quite center of right
Love was born
And Love died

It was better to pretend ignorance

Thanks

I enjoyed this, it has a good flow until the end. I think you could lose the last "It was better to pretend ignorance", and it would be tight.
