(the original lyrics to “One of us” as
made popular by Joan Osbourne)

If god was on drugs,
what would they be?
would it be heroin or speed?
No, i'd say Angel Dust.
well isn't that clever?
But it's really just a Glorified pun --
and so is that.

and yeah, yeah, God is Dog
     spelled backwards
     it really makes you think
     yeah yeah yeah yeah

What if God was spelled backwards?
          Running loose in the suburbs?
without a leash and not being curbed,
          going everywhere but home,
          like a shaggy rolling stone?

If God had a nose,
how would it smell?
And would you pick it for peace?
Well, that snot relevant.
If God had his nails done
what color would they be?
All shiny and red?
And might he be cross with them?

and yeah yeah God is hot
um, a hot topic in songs these days
     yeah yeah yeah yeah

What if God was spelled backwards?
          Running loose in the suburbs?
without a leash and not being curbed
          going everywhere but home
          like a shaggy rolling stone?

would Son of  Sam be likely shown
to the right paw of the throne?
could we give that God a bone?

if we called it "Gog" that would be a palindrome.
