Gridlocked,
We sought
R & R
in each other's pipestem arms

"70's pornography is the
highlight of a rather
dull decade, don't you think?"

she rolled down pleasantly
piss smelling panties

"In general I prefer an excess
of wiry fur on all my
combustible flesh puppets"

unclipping her torn dirty bra,
Bullet nipples unsheathed,
Then a burning bush
& its parting oceans

"The ouvre of one Zebedy Colt
especially dampens the nethers.
His is a preference for
rape & defilement
against the numerous
crumbling American backdrops"

her long filthy red hair
blotting out the sky
in the tiny apartment,
I stepped forward

"How better to chronicle
the decaying, disillusioned
American psyche than
through stunning
set peices of carnal knowledge-"

To suck at dirt rimmed
pancake Aureole

"-Interpersonal betrayal"

Thrusting deep deep down
into hidden caverns

"-& pure anti authoritarian
ultra-violence?"

While digging my head into her
ripe armpit, inhaling deeply

"Mainstreamer Wes Craven evoked
a similar vibe with his
premier picture"

a cluck of a tongue
as I finished up

"Unfortunately THAT film was
too preoccupied with its
middle class mores for my taste
to make effective
suck & fuck"

- & cried out in the confines

Afterwards we
watched the kiddies
scavenge amongst
the mortared ruins,
my hand still tangled
in her firebrand follicles
lest she disapear

She wept silently between
scabby upraised knees

"They just don't make 'em
like they used too.

Thanks for responding -but no zeros!

First - no reason whatsoever to give this very strong poem a Zero (even in the context of a creative humility)!

Second - As a reader I just wanted to clarify that the quotes with no clear referent (perhaps my failure in understanding) made it more difficult to understand who was quoted (I was considering a read from a review; dialog; quote from watching a TV segment; or either the man or the woman).

Third, if there is such an attitude gap between the man and the woman in the poem, it did not show in the poem itself. Barring any dissenting voice, all that we are left with is her voice; her perspective, which on the pure a-political violence issue is more like either some sort of dangerous mental disorder or like the other option I have already pointed out, than 60's anti establishment.

Finally, please, don't take my response out of context. I was and still am intrigued by this poem. Few do that to me. That’s the relevant broad context which I want to emphasize while we have this exchange. I still like it very much! And please no more zeros – it hurts my eyes.

and

it was more of an inside joke thing

shes talking about one of the most disturbing things ive ever seen

('last house on the left' and thank you yes, it is a sixties vibe i was going for)

to call that jack material would be like growing stiff at the sight of a reving chainsaw

shes *supposed* to be a lunatic

the whole um

world iwas illustrating for lack of a better word was supposed to give the distinct impression of place gone straight to hell

so whatever was coming out of her mouth (ha ha) was intended as pure topsy turvy

i dont 'agree' with any of those things

forgive the weakness

i just know alot about movies, blue and non-blue alike *shrugs*

How to relax with 70's porn shows...

Share your sentiments on current clinical sanitized American "erotica" Vs. the dirty (and hairy, translated here as dirty).

Could not understand and had no time to research the confusing (for me) quotes which included a statement which I could not disagree with more on the 'anti authoritarian' value of engaging in violence (against whom?). Just because I liked the rest I’ll tell you that I believe this is tired old crap -if anything, this is closer to fascism than anything else (they usually admire crude violence). Get off this old cliché (I hope it's just a cliché...).

If the horror film producer Wes Craven is “main stream” (regardless of who is quoted – YOU brought it to the poem) I wonder who is on the creative front for you…Brrrr.

The last few lines were less dressed to impress, and thus worked better in bringing forth some emotion. I got the impression that the kids referenced were the soldiers involved in the true horror show in Iraq.

I liked the fresh irreverence of the poem even if some of it felt a bit like a remnant of protest poems from the 60’s rather than a fresh expression. But most importantly your heart is in the right place. .
