i sit and i listen to the rain
thoughts seem to drift
floating along with the rhythm
the melody does quietly shift
tenderness, so true and rare
the drumming on the street
steady soothing moving flowing
can you feel it's beat
i sit and listen to the rain
and like a fool grin
going out and looking up
a determined tilt of the chin
to be again the child i was
to be again care free
yes let the rain come on down
and wet and soothe me
