Reaching Out

You reach out to my body without extending your arms
Without moving, I feel your arms wrap around me
Your fingers touch my soul, yet you do not need to move.
With words alone, of a hello, images of you come to me.

I have ran, ran so far and fast, but your arms find me
Over and over, they find me and bring me back.
Slowly I realize that it was my own fears that had me running.
You reach out to me, reaching me again and again.

It leaves my mind to wonder how...how can you forgive each time I run
I run from you, and you are there to catch me when I fall.
Your friendship and arms seem to be waiting.
I fear the day that they will no longer be there.

On that day, I will have a deep loss, a loss greater than anything.
I will have lost a friend, and someone....
someone that has touched me without ever actually needing to move.
Reaching out comes in many forms, and you have reached for me as I am reaching for you now. Thank you for touching my soul with understanding and kindness.
