Author's note: This is a piece of klepto-poetry. I stole the idea from a short story by Nalo Hopkinson. She in turn stole it from the Brothers Grimm...

red riding

she red riding tonight
full moon glare
moist she wears the scent
of yearning blood
red riding tonight

teeth moonlight bright
wolfie sniffs the air
nostrils flare
red riding

begin the dance
of sinew bone and skin
the scent of sweat
of flesh and rushing blood
red riding
dark and damp and ripe

mama home
in kitchen
clean and white
praying for a woodman

How nice to see your name and poetry! The last two stanzas, wonderful. Red riding is dark and damp and ripe, and mama is in the kitchen, clean and white. Love the colors and the contrast.
