Reflected in Ashes

Author's Note: I am not a poet. These are lyrics I write for my band, we haven't settled on a name yet, in which we play metal, rock and many variations of the two. I thought I'd get peoples opinions on these lyrics so I post them. Enjoy and please leave a comment.

I remember the time, when all that I thought about is would I live or die
I dismember the demons inside, as I descend into hell
My own coffin is made from the bones of those who fell

March past the barricade and serenade in blood
Through my years I have longed for more
But now I'm bleeding out on the floor
Standing over me, I see you open death's door
In your eyes I see only lies that built the ties I held onto
Daylight dies as we realise that the prize is to see ourselves
Reflected in the ashes of our past

I can't see past this veil
You've kept me in darkness for too long
Light has died so I walk into the black
Confined in shadows I can't turn back

I'm making my way just to hear them pray
They pray for my eternal soul to save me from myself
Everywhere I feel judgement in their eyes
There's nowhere I can go to hide
