I am a lady waiting,
For a man that never comes.
Well, there's nothing new in that you say,
They march to different drums!
I sit and do my needlework,
And read a book or two,
I then look in my mirror,
For there's nothing else to do.
Reflected in that surface
I see a river long,
But no sign of man on horseback,
What did I do so wrong?
Was I heedless to his stories,
Of battles long ago.
Did his armour lack a sparkle,
I really need to know?
I'm very bored with tapestry,
For this one bit's all I've got,
And I never seem to get out now,
To see around Shallot.
