Put on that CD
with all my favorite songs
flow like a rattlesnake
shake back and forth
and remind me that there are days
and men
that will move me.
I long for nights that will gush
all good, sweet, and warm;
those worthy of licked lips
that tongue a closed mouth
afraid to say a word
that might change.
The moment
beckons inside me
but sometimes I forget
between stern voices
and fierce looks
there you are
jumping to take my hand
and spill forth laughter.

What would I do without you?
