I poked and I prodded,
I pondered and queried

He spoke and he nodded
He picked up and he carried

I watched him tuck it away,
for later he said

The ribbon, bright and shiny
peeked out of hiding

I saw it every day, the ribbon,
peeking at me from where it lay

I snuck up on it, around the chair
I left it undisturbed, I just stare

He came home today, opened the door
the ribbon stirred in the doors breeze

Everyday is a little worse
now I walk up boldy to it

Today is really bad,
I stare at it while on my knees

Will he know, he cant know,
my fingers stray forwards

my breath is heavy,
my heartbeat in my ears

the ribbon, bright and shiny
so soft, like silk, or mamas linens

the ribbon, so soft,
what, oh what can it conceal

just one peek, not enough to open,
just enough to see

Its too tight, this ribbon
its tied and tied again

Ill never untie it,
Ill never get too see

Im sure now, I'm positive,
waiting for Christmas is killing me!
