The task was set I could not dare to fail
With thoughts of duty honor came to mind
Courage can bring a man his fate served well
To stare the maw of fate this courage find

Though bleak the days the road is long and hard
It saps the legs and seeks to change your way
It binds the arms and makes the end seem far
Requires a will of iron the path to stay

But err the end the tunnel is in sight
In darkest hour ahead of me must face
A deep pitch black before the gleam of light
A light that serves to guide me from this place

What horrid quest has come to bring me hither
Writing this sonnet leaves me all aquiver
