A strange green monster

errupts from the corner of my deck

rips through the earth every spring

hydra-like

bearing many heads

it twines around posts and pots

and springs with virile joy

out from its bed...

I lop its leafy python necks...

We wage quite a war,but

it only grows another..

for i have no companion to burn its bloody stumps

So it climbs where it wants

and belches its own language in circular

layers of sweet smelling velvet white..

A surrender??

bits of white petals like lost love letters fall like tears
