I can’t say it.
There are rules about these things,
appropriate times and proper moments.

I can’t blurt it out just because I am thinking it
(even when I will burst if I don’t,
sending shards of myself all over the room).

I can’t. There are rules!
and etiquette! and lines that cannot be crossed
by an overly enthusiastic sharing of emotions!

I can’t go another day,
another minute, another moment, another breath;
exhaling slowly, tasting the words in my mouth...
