housewives will gossip
drunkards will brag
who let this rumor-cat
out of its wicked bag

the squeak of springs
while he was away
carried on the grapevine
all the way to LA

brazen and bold
talk of the town
i've gained a quite new
unsightly renown

he was away on business
i was here to play
the mattress must have ears
for the news to reach LA

your kisses were torrid
my piercing screams ensued
and guess what…he heard 'em
loud and clear and true

whispered mutters
and side long glances
should i play it off as idle talk?
i think i'll take my chances

housewives will gossip
drunkards will brag
who let this rumor-cat
out of its wicked bag
