The edges of my only key
       Are slowly wearing down
I don’t know if I’ll find a space
       That fits it anymore.

And while I search the halls I hear
The snickers of all the she’s
They make me doubt that I’ll ever find
       Any lock at all.

What makes me think that I deserve
       To leave this empty maze
It seems so clear that maybe there’s
       Just no coming ‘round
If there’s a place to cure this case
       Of lonely misery
Then shed some light and show the way
For a rusty key and me

rachet it down

a notch

change maze to place, end it on

Just no coming ‘round

you have a better poem, not so overblown.
