Barefoot naked
hair still wet
paw through the drawer:
red, yellow, black, white
pink, blue, purple, chartreuse
lavender,
hold each briefly
against a smooth white body
what color to wear
what statement to make…

‘always wear clean underwear’
our mothers said
‘you might be in an accident’,

… or might wish to feel
that sensuality of color
against smooth clean skin,
savor a lover’s hands
exploring the space between,
