Shatter and Fall

I will walk with you, he said
I'll be wherever you will
So why is it that I'm walking
And he's still standing still?

To lose me you best run fast, he said
Through a maze, that's in a forest
But really I'm just walking
And he wasn't being honest

He liked the wholeidea, he said
But hadn't thought it through
So though his words came from the heart
They weren't really true

I could have done with knowing that
Before my heart fell open
Because now it's shocked and shattered
On the brink of being broken.

Wasanythinghe said to me
Put through his fearsome logic first?
Or was it all just fairy dust
Prose, chorus, rhyme and verse?

"I will walk wherever you will;
Just maybe not at the same time..."
So how long should I wait for you?
How long before you're mine?

I watched him leave this morning
Watched my dreams shatter and fall
I held them as they turned to dust
And he walked out the door.
