She stands broken

Droplets of rain fall on her face.
She cries out,
the stinging lash
smacks her.
Hits her.
Makes her scream.

They fall like acid
each one burning her flesh,
marking her.
Making her bleed.

She cries out,
"Freedom!"
"Freedom!"

No one hears her pain.

Mother Earth
cries out
the tears
that fall like acid rain.
