Shore

Never got to see the shore
Never walked down that road
Never expected to even care
But I do
Wanted to meet you
Wanted to talk to you
Wanted to be there
I still do
The late night talks
Only made me want more
The poems you wrote to me
Changed my image of you
They took down the shields
Around the hurt and the heart
As my guard fell
I wrote
And have kept writing
A year since I put words to page
But now, again, I can’t stop
So you gave me that
But I would rather
Just be able to talk to you
Where ever you went
I wish you well
But I wish to stay up late
And Talk
Till reality sets in.
