A sigh escapes,
Your silent slumber,
And once again,
Of your presence,
I am aware.

Slowly seeping,
From deep within,
Silver strands of light,
Accentuate its simple grace.

Enviously,
I stare,
So close,
Yet still so distant,
No matter how my skin may caress yours
Never will I taste,
Such an intimate embrace.

To exist beneath the surface,
Both as master and slave,
Sustaining your existence,
As it fleetingly pushes you away.

Does it even know,
Delight,
In its own good fortune,
To kiss each breast from within,
Each lip its captive listener.

Or is the knowledge,
Of the simple elusive stirring,
Thought,
Dream,
Impulse,
Request,
It’s own satisfaction,
For the time it was granted.

I watch in wonder,
Guessing,
As to the life it must lead,
Wishing,
That it find its way,
Next,
To sleeping within me.
