In the night when alone I close my eyes
And think of you as mine. If I open
Them in trust your image stays and these lies
Mingle with other shadows which strengthen
To a force near truth fed from the hope of
My soul. Night is my only saviour
And I see day as a threat to my love.
Light destroys in envy my power
To imagine, while darkness invites all
That is not to be. I have seen you in
Dim light, your reflection cast on the wall
And in my heart that impression remains.
So will it live as long as what I write
As in every shadow of every night.
