as a potato, split open
its warm life, thick
with such vegetable starch to be food

I like the pause after "as" then the final line. It made me smile.

tantalizing

descriptive like this is easy to see, read, difficult to do. Since being aware of your Lit work and your name I've appreciated your easy twisting of words and meanings. The reader begins to anticipate it somewhere, but can seldom know just where it will suddenly turn and what it will become. I'm a potato fan too.
