All the rationalization in the world
won’t stop the longing
when illusions turn fixation
and things are left unsaid

He became immortalized
somehow in my mind
the one who could complete me
possessor of the love to save me

Every weight I measure
never measures up
and every man I taste
never makes the cut

I know he won’t be back
but hope can sweet-talk sorrow
as delusions of someday
taunt lies to my tomorrow

~~

I can see this in a book of verse;

two versions, facing pages;

one for him, the other her;

~

self-imposed isolation.
