Sorrow

Wear your sorrow and touch what is real;
never cringing from the pain that you feel.
Wear it in the glorious sunlight;
hug it close in the piercing silence of night.

In the complex emotions molding who we are,
remember the valiant souls whose struggles
have taken them so far.
The battle has not been lost, not upon Earth's field,
for those who have faith, to death will never yield.
In our memories they will survive, through eons
of time and space,
though we are mortal men, not long for this place.

Confront the changing tides of your pain everyday;
make peace with it though it be transitory or here to stay.
Wear it willingly with the comfort of a second skin.
Count it as victory –
For in endurance, how can the courageous not win?

Just another piece of this rich human experience. I'm only just learning to be as open to the bad as I am to the good.
