SPARING LOVE

Tonight that rain
hits me back,
call it my bane,
call it my luck,
that's all I've got.
The freezing air
I will ignore,
see if I care,
sleep on the floor,
that is my lot.

I will survive,
by you confused,
in this mad drive
I am so used,
I think it's fair.
With or without
I will be glad,
hell! Edeltraud...
I'm not that bad,
love I can spare.

Let love remain
the only thing
without a stain,
so we may sing
of its bright day!
My love, sleep well
and have sweet dreams,
if these are hell
or heaven streams,
I could not say.
