She passes from shadow and through the light
never to cross my path during the hours of day
astral, ethereal - a mere messenger of the night

Was that fate a broken heart, or a killing fright?
Who knows for certain? - and she does not say
She passes from shadow and through the light

The home down the street remains the site
where she wanders, keeping happiness at bay
Astral, ethereal - a mere messenger of the night

Delivery of her burden through sheer might
carrying the truth to my feet at which she'll lay
She passes from shadow and through the light

Flee though I may, she does not leave my sight
Trailing from the abandoned house to where I stay
Astral, ethereal - a mere messenger of the night

It is not the blame that sharpens the fright
For I swear once again, at that time I was miles away
She passes from shadow and through the light
astral, ethereal - a mere messenger of the night
