Sunrise falls upon the ivory slopes,
It's beauty to see each noon and night and morn,
Bearing nobly his dreams, his tears, his hopes,
The softest pillars of where her love is borne.

Like a pearl kissed by a maidens blush,
Surround the dark wells with her sighs.
Radiant pools cause the heart to hush,
Silenced are his cries.

Stained by fruit, in the ripened fold,
By heaven's voice, yearning left unspoken.
Whims, desires, a stolen touch,
For now, the covenant remains unbroken.

A trembling petal, a quivering pool,
All this evident to the unsighted,
To touch, to take, to make a fool,
Must leave this paradise blighted.

Sunset rises and she retreats,
Her beauty pure, simple, and honest.
Honor only in admitting defeat,
I must leave her as she's promised.
