You decided to ride in a stolen car tonight.
I don't know if you did it
out of despite or just because
You're young and naïve.

Everyday I worry about you;
as you grow into a young adult,
I tend to worry more.
And I feel so tired at times.

Sometimes I feel like just letting
you go and letting you do
as you wish. You'll learn
about life the hard way like I did.

Maybe by letting you be free
I can be free too.
I can finally get a goodnight sleep
without knowing anything about you.

Being a parent isn't easy at least
that's what they've always told me.
You cause me pain and worry.
I can't even have a life of my own!

It's tough being a parent to you.
Yet, I wouldn't give up all the headaches
and heartaches you cause me.
You're my child and you'll always be a part
of my life. And I'm thankful for that.
