You wear your heart on your sleeve.
You have your standards and so does he.
In the end you really aren’t much are you?
Just another stupid girl.

You stay in a place where the love is rotten.
You tell yourself it isn’t that bad,
then someone comes a long and for a moment
you are not that stupid girl.

You are alive.
You are beautiful.
You are wanted.

Ooh you stupid girl.
That heart on your sleeve has crushed you again.
Second best you’ve become,
like a broken leaf in the wind

You took in the words and they may have been true.
You drank them up, swallowed them whole,
ignoring the signs
that eventually showed.

Stupid girl. Go beat yourself up.
You’re really nothing, but seriously stuck.
You can’t have morals and do what you do,
desire another and be something new.

Stupid girl, what a waste you’ve become.
Go now, just leave. You really should run.
You shouldn’t have cared for connection.
You should have just fucked and stayed neglected.

Pretty heavy stuff!

But there's a lot of truth in there.

I just read a book by Harlen Coben, "Promise Me." that looks into the issues of helping someone that doesn't want help or in making value judgments on who is worth saving.

Very nicely done.

Regards, Jack

Here's insight into how women are kept down — it's not all the man's doing ~ she helps.

Everyone

Everyone who wears their "heart on the sleeve" feels like this from time to time. You have put the feelings into words in a very visual way

A very moving poem...

with such beautiful descriptions that makes one wonder how many other women are in such situations. Well done.
