I used to hide my face;
Cover my tear-streaked cheek
Conceal my state of pain,
That left me vulnerable and weak.

You asked me to look at You;
Pull my hands from my face.
You asked to see me weak.
You asked me to meet Your gaze.

For You, I allowed myself
To lay there and be stripped
Of every wall, of the shell
That You slowly chipped

It was only in Your arms,
That did I come to see.
You did not see weakness,
Rather, strength in me.

It’s the tears that made me strong;
That I could share with You.
The deepest, darkest parts of me;
Purple, black, and blue.
