It's overwhelming.
The vehemence of my passions,
The fervor of my sentiments.

It threatens to break through
My safeguard of composure
To show the substratum of frenzy and pathos.

But for the ward of armor
Buffering it all.
Shielding it from the scrutiny of man.

Is it dishonest of me
To not let down my safeguard?
To protect myself?

Could I survive the outbreak?
Or would the élan of ardor burn me up?
Killing the heart within.

I believe it would.
I would push away the world.
Only to sink into darkness.

In the words of Smashmouth: you never know if you don't go (you never shine if you don't glow)
