My printer was out of ink
and I couldn't think
of a thing to write
that night
So I took a pause
and stared at the starlight
through my skylight
'twas a late summer's eve
the moon was on the wane
the cicada's refrain
supplied the earth and the sky
with nature's white noise
crickets added to the choir
in the distance a lonely mocking bird
sang an avian aria
singing her heart out
expecting no reply
a meteor zipped by
I made a wish
I wished I could pause
this beautiful earth
and make the mad men see
what their greedy god Thor
is ready to destroy
in his frenzied lust for war
