Sun-Shined Days
Relate the mundane of today
as the westerly smotes all sound
save for the cicada serenade
stampeding my mind.
Show me the buttercups
once held under my child chin
and the un-fragrant gorse flower
as it swims on the incessant wind.
Guide my calluses across the bars
of Strawberry Fields as moments stretch
into years gone by.
Remind me of sun-shined days
spent rolling among wildflowers
and together taking toast with tea,
days when two overs remained
and only five rows needed knitting
on the red jumper.
Remind me always, of loving hugs
and hot chocolate suppers
before lights out and God Bless…
And never let me forget
how much I love you.
