I’m tangled up in you,
like memories mixed with summer
laughter and sunshine
tied up in sultry moonlight.

Dark hair and bottomless eyes
swallow me swallowing you.
I’m tangled up in you,
skin on skin and blue shadows dancing.

Twelve winters checked off
since you left me waiting,
the river spilling over her green shoulders,
and I’m still tangled up in you.
