The grass beneath your feet
turns to the broken litter
of anothers life
who trod the road before you.
Even the air expelled from
lungs long gone,
dulls your heart to the trees
hung with the tattered leaves
of autumn,
leading to a dank dark winter.
Advance vernal equinox.
