God is crying for His children now
Wondering where he went wrong
Was His love just not enough
Did His children need something more?

Oh, He tried so hard to show them the righteous way
He never thought He’d fail so miserably
Through bad times and worst times He stayed at their side
He held them close in the rain and the dark keeping them dry.

God is crying for His children now
Wondering what more He could have done
Was His trust so misplaced
Did his children need a firmer hand to lead them down the right way?

He remembers the past with a saddened smile
When His children were young and carefree
He wonders exactly when did their laughter turn to rage
He tried to fill them with love, yet all He feels in them is hate.

God is crying for His children now
Wondering how a war can be fought in His name
Was the blood of His only begotten son not enough
Did his children need another sacrifice?

God is crying for His children now
Wondering if His tears are enough to wash away the pain
Was the hope and peace all just a dream, or
Did His children just lose their way?
