Tethered to yesterday
on so short a leash
Tomorrow waits patiently
just out of reach

Lamp post desires run through
my mind
Tied to my bedpost
a vow meant to bind

Pent up emotions
wasting away
Too many lives
mixed in the fray

Heavy the price
the innocents pay
and empty the heart
that's wasting away
