Watching my son today
As he played with his friends
Rough and tumble
I saw something I had
Never seen before
The ghost of something new in him
Brought tears to my eyes
When I thought

BRIDGE

Not so long left now
Not so long
Until that time comes
Maybe here already
Not so little anymore
Now I know
Watchin him from a father's eyes
Someday
That boy
That boy
He could show his pa
A thing or 2 about
This thing we call life
Just like my daddy told me
Once so long ago
That boy could be a man

It happens as life goes
Rollin on along
They grow up fast
Right before our eyes
Can't believe
How fast time
It sure can fly
Then you see the change

REPEAT BRIDGE

Footsteps echo
Bringin back a memory
Of talks past that we had
Just pray
That the wisdom I passed on
Is enough to help him on through
Now that he's on that road

REPEAT BRIDGE

Good Lord above
Help him please
Not to rush
Be in such a hurry
Cause he's got to learn
Life takes time
And if he'll just take it slow
Then son you will see
