Lights tucked into the blue spruce
cast lacy shadows
on the white wall
and glint off the bronze ornaments

bare branches beat staccato
on the garage roof
and falling snow
patters into panes

little ladies in patent leather shoes
layers of tulle askew
bellies pressed to pine needle carpet
play manger scene

and you
you take my hand to your lips
and kiss my palm
place it on your heart
and whisper
“family”

Oh, Lesse

Sweet and sentimental, nice, traditional and loving with out a hint of trite or cutesy
