for some reason i wrote a sea shanty waiting for the bus last week. As a side note a 'gunwale' (phonetic 'gun-nel') is the top edge of a dory or small boat.

One hundred twenty year ago
The boys they sailed the sea
They fished the banks of Newfoundland
But nary a fish they’d see
Till’ one day the captain
With a stern look in his eye
Said to hell with fish me boys
Down south the rum’s run dry

Well they loaded up the casks
And the sailed em’ too and fro
They called them selves the banker boys
And boys the wealth did flow
Till one cold Novembers eve
She was tossed up in a gale
And she broke her back upon a shoal
Boys new she wouldn’t sail

So they loaded up the dories
All the rum they could fit
With water over the gunwales
In the centers they did sit
They rowed it all to shore
And collected their last gold
The last run of the banker boys
Retold boys retold
