I’m going to tell you now that I can
And I don’t need you to help me understand
Maybe you never would anyway
Cause I know its all about you, always, everyday
Silly me to think differently
Why am I the one searching for something to say?
Why can’t I ever disagree?
Even when I’m telling you you’re nothing to me?
I wished for an Angel
But oh,
What did I find?
A torturous demon cemented to the ground
Grabbing at feet and clawing at me
Shallow scars and twisted nails
But I get up, pretending like you failed
My skin, my heart, bleeding, breaking itself
I had to be this way
You had to change
Yet I never thought I’d see this day
Dirty shreds of skin from a fight
We’ve both lost and just rest tonight
With broken egos, maybe spirts too
But mostly skin
Becoming thicker, callous and uneven
It’s a day to share and one to pray
For what purpose or person
I know not nor could I say
If I listened again
I know this would end
But if the battle didn’t have a winner
Then it would be time to bend
I’m going to fight and draw my sword
Maybe I’ll cower but not without accord
But now, you’ve come to surrender
Yet how could I win
When I know you’re too clever?
Always one step ahead
How did a path
Innocent and fun
Crumble to bitter words
To glares on the run?
Is it my mistake?
Or is there something else to learn?
And why should I trust you
When by you I’ve been burned?
