Words fell like sharp stones
Cutting into a wounded soul
Shattering a fragile ego

Silent tears dropped
Deeper in the darkness
A prayer for a peaceful end lay in wait

Words like stones carelessly tossed
Into the air and back again
A spray of bullets

The end to the pain
Required thought and kindness
But none thought to be kind
