The Best Cat Ever stalked these halls,
pounced these ankles of mine,
had a special spot on the shelves of books,
where novels never rested.
Because it was hers.

The Best Cat Ever went with me,
from middle school to high school to college
and beyond.
We grew up together; where ever she was,
I was home.

The Best Cat Ever became careworn and grey.
Frost rimmed her muzzle and ears.
Making her old and young and wise together as she played.
Until she slept forever in my arms.

The Best Cat Ever still plays within
the dusty rooms of my soul.
She sleeps within the sunbeams of my heart.
Where ever I am, forever bringing me home.

RIP

Pet poems and eulogies are my weakness. Thanks for sharing this loving remembrance of a dear friend.

Carrie.
