its raining and gray outside
and inside business is slow
so i sit down at the bar
and look out the window
at the girl who waits
with the cherry red umbrella.

while she waits he preens
like a prancing peacock
strutting back and forth
and spreading his wings as
she smiles dry as a bone
from inside her wetless space.

she twirls her umbrella coyly
until the bus pulls in
to rudely suck her off
cherry red umbrella and all...
meanwhile we are alone again
and the rain keeps on falling.
