The Death of Anger

By SilentMercy

There is nothing I wouldn't give
Not an hour, minute, or moment
That I wouldn't give to keep your gaze
That when I look to you
I see forgiveness
And not the turning of a cold cheek through my own ignorance
There is nothing I wouldn't give to end your pain
To watch you run through fields of long grass and plenty
To sit by the maelstrom in your paradise
And watch a river of healing caress your soul with the love I never did
How should I feel when a sense of power eludes me through my own fault?
How should I feel when I kneel ashamed before you?
How should I feel when alas, my fears consume you
And you reach for my hand, and it's not there?
I have long yearned for your caress
And when I said I wouldn't miss
I never spoke a truth so deep and so profound
That when the last pedal falls off the last rose
It will know this as the only thing that ever was and will be
I am yours
Know by the touch of my lips upon yours
That through this dark gauntlet will emerge a warrior
That will never strike you down again

Should be a 'petal' instead of a 'pedal' that falls.
